Genre is a type of text. 

For instance, scientific journals, informative review, and all the assignments I listed under Portfolio falls under genre.  

I understand this topic thoroughly, but I sometimes get confused when asked to state the genre. However, I look back on my previous assignments specifically the genre analysis to reassure myself.
